Testing & Calibration

Radiographic Testing (RT)

Radiographic Testing (RT) is used to detect hidden flaws in solid objects and requires the use of either X-rays or gamma rays. A source of ionizing radiation is placed on one side of the object under inspection, while a photographic film is positioned on the opposite side. As the radiation passes through the object, it is partially absorbed, and variations in material thickness or absorption properties are recorded, producing a full-size image that reveals internal details.

X-rays are generated electrically using a high-voltage X-ray tube, whereas gamma rays are emitted naturally from the decay of radioactive isotopes. The primary advantage of radiography is that it provides a non-destructive method for detecting hidden defects while producing a permanent record in the form of a radiograph.

  Assessments including conned space entry.

Visual Testing (VT)

Visual Testing (VT), also known as Visual Inspection, is a widely used NDT method for assessing the condition or quality of an item. It is simple, cost-effective, and generally requires no specialized equipment. VT can be performed with the naked eye or enhanced through optical tools such as magnifiers and microscopes.

A variety of equipment is available to the inspector including:
  mirrors, gauges,
  bore scopes, endoscopes,
  video / computer enhancement systems.

Visual Testing is a vital part of the in-service inspection and can identify such things as:

  Fatigue Cracks
  Creep Failure
  Corrosion, Erosion
  Abrasion

  Mechanical Damage
  Wear and Tear
  Distortion
  Poor Workmanship.

Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI)

Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI)—also known as Penetrant Testing (PT) or Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI)—is used to detect surface-breaking flaws in non-porous ferrous and non-ferrous materials of any size, including metals, plastics, and ceramics.

It is commonly applied to forged, cast, or welded components that are prone to cracking and other surface defects, or in cases where Magnetic Particle Inspection is not suitable due to material type or complex geometry.

A visible or fluorescent dye, either solvent- or water-based, is applied to the test surface using methods such as spraying, brushing, dipping, or immersion. During the penetration (dwell) time, the dye enters any surface-breaking faults by capillary action. Once the dwell time is complete, excess dye is carefully removed from the surface, leaving no visible residue. A developer is then applied, which draws the dye out of the flaws through reverse capillary action, making the defects clearly visible to the inspector.

Oil Analysis

Imagine detecting equipment damage at its earliest stage through microscopic wear particles and debris. Oil analysis is a powerful preventive maintenance tool that identifies correctable issues long before they escalate into major failures. This results in reduced unplanned downtime and improved equipment reliability, productivity, and profitability. Oil analysis with us can:

  Extend oil drain interval
  Extend equipment life
  Identify problems before equipment failure
